Just on Tuesday, the undersecretary of Health, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, in charge of managing the pandemic in Mexico, asked people who have been in contact with a positive covid-19 not to take a test and limit themselves to isolation.

Taking the test is not going to change our decision to isolate ourselves to protect other people from getting infected, instead of running to the kiosk to take a test, what you have to do is stay home, ”said the official.

In recent days, long lines of people have been seen in Mexico seeking -sometimes unsuccessfully- to take a test in public and private centers.
