The Mexican National Team secured their ticket to the World Cup in the category with a 2–1 victory to claim the Confederations Scepter.
Mexico lifted the CONCACAF Women’s U-20 Championship in the Dominican Republic after defeating the United States 2–1 in the final. The field of the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium witnessed the Mexican victory.
In the first half, both teams played very cautiously, both leading the United States and Ana Galindo reaching little to the opponent’s goals. Tatiana Flores earned herself a yellow card on 24 minutes after a strong tackle.
After half time, both the strategists came out more aggressive with the aim of securing the championship. It was the United States that had the first dangerous opportunity, however, the North American players let the opportunity pass.
At minute 51, the central referee of the match awarded a penalty against Mexico, but goalkeeper Iztel Velasco dressed as a heroin saved the shot.
A Chelsea player, Tatiana Flores, managed to deflect the United States captain’s mark and through the center, the striker sent the ball towards Melin Orozco, who darted in to score the first goal of the match on 71 minutes. Worked hard
At age 80, the United States national team received a tie. The American offensive filtered down the right flank and Paloma Gamero sent the ball into Etzel Velazco’s goal.
Although the United States was on the Mexican goal, the Mexican team got a second goal in the last 10 minutes of the match. On 88 minutes, Alice Soto shot from outside the area and although the ball was disallowed by the US national team goalkeeper, Fatima Cervin was alert and took advantage of the American brand’s lapse to score her second goal of the tournament.
