Just a few days ago, the price of the MG4 XPOWER, the performance variant of the Chinese compact model that pushed Tesla off the bestseller podium, was announced. A top 5 that clearly leads the American company with the Tesla Model 3 in Spain and the Model Y in Europe. As if it were an industrial struggle, the MG4 creeps up the rankings and arrives in our country at a price that will conquer even the most daring.
The MG4 Extended Range is the version designed with autonomy in mind, so that it achieves an autonomy of more than 520 kilometers in the WLTP combined cycle. This is not only possible thanks to the battery with a capacity of 77 kWh but also thanks to the electronic engine management, which prioritizes consumption and aerodynamics, avoiding drag as much as possible.
Additionally, the latest version of the Extended Range supports DC charging up to 144 kW, allowing it to charge from 10% to 80% in just 39 minutes from a 150 kW outlet (estimated).
This Roadrunner’s block produces 180 kW (240 hp) and an instantaneous maximum torque of 340 Nm, enabling it to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.5 seconds. Of course, the maximum speed is limited to 180 km/h, a fact that we cannot exceed even on Spanish roads.
A new version, at the same price
Well, yes, the MG4 range is fully marketed in Spain with its five versions: Standard, Comfort, Luxury, Long range, and XPOWER. The first of these is the cheapest, the access model, and you can get it for $20,000 thanks to the latest line of Plan MOVES III utilities. The same thing that allows us to talk about the MG Extended Range as a democratizer of electric mobility, this time even for travel,
The price of this version is 40,690 euros, plus the introductory discount (3,210 euros) and the complete MOVES III plan of 7,000 euros, giving an access price of 30,480 euros. The Tesla Model 3 has a range of 602 kilometers but costs almost 10,000 euros more, so only the rear-wheel-drive model with a range of 491 kilometers competes at this price level.
