Migrant associations have condemned the frequent attacks against the will of the majority

The Spring Association, based in Washington DC, United States, released a statement this Friday, September 15, in which it confirmed that the constant action of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Against Impunity (FECI) of the Public Ministry (MP) violates the will to the people of Guatemala.

The organization condemns the constant attacks on the democratic system led by the Attorney General, Consuelo Porras, the head of FECI, Rafael Curruchiche, the fiscal agent, Cinthia Monterroso, as well as the head of the Seventh Criminal Court of First Instance, Fredy Orellana, whom he described as “non gratos”.

These actions violate the will of the people of Guatemala, because it is a lack of respect for the members of the Vote Receiving Boards and Electoral Boards, who voluntarily become the guarantors of the transparency, legality and legitimacy of the electoral process in General Elections and the second round of elections for the Presidency, at the discretion of the Spring Association.

Along these lines, it completely rejects all the false acts of interpretation of the law, at the same time that they support the TSE as the only institution that has the jurisdiction to manage the electoral process.

In turn, the Association explained that the Electoral and Political Parties Law (LEPP) is constitutionally ranked, so the investigating entity and the Supreme Court of Justice (CSJ) bow down and follow the real groups because they are part in an irresponsible raid.

THE POPULATION IS ASKED TO REJECT THE ACTIONS

In the same way, Asociación Primaveral asks the Guatemalan population to continue to show their rejection against the MP officials and Judge Orellana in a peaceful way.

Instead, he demanded the resignation of Porras, Curruchiche, Monterroso and Judge Orellana, as well as anyone who seeks to delegitimize the electoral process and undermine democracy in the country.

“We send our solidarity and support to the elected government and offer our capabilities and efforts as part of the diaspora to work together decisively in the urgent processes of change needed in Guatemala,” he said.

THE CASE

During September 12 and 13, FECI carried out a series of raids on the Citizen Registry and the Electoral Process Operations Center (COPE), under the authorization of Orellana, which resulted in the Prosecutor’s Office deciding to open the boxes They have votes. from the election, which is protected by the TSE.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the attacks were part of a complaint filed by a citizen, who asked to investigate the number of votes obtained by each political party during the election, because the State must deliver US$2 for each vote in favor of political organizations.

Consequently, the TSE and Semilla presented several actions to prevent the FECI from continuing the investigations, because they proved that the chain of custody of the vote was broken, and the electoral process was at risk, however, the Court of Constitutionality ( CC) decided to refer the appeals to the Third Chamber of the Court of Appeals of the Criminal Branch.
