An 87-year-old woman who went missing earlier this week from her Bay Point home was found dead in a neighbor’s backyard, authorities said.
Around 9 a.m. Saturday, a resident of Maureen Circle in Bay Point called the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s office to report an unknown dead man in his backyard.
The body is believed to be the property of Adela Dela Pena, who was last seen around 8:40 pm on November 16 at her home on Victoria Court’s 600th block in Bay Point, according to the sheriff’s office. Pena was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.
When members of Pena’s family discovered that she was missing, they looked for her but could not find her. They alerted the authorities on 17 November.
(3) They later notified the sheriff’s office. The sheriff’s deputies and the Sheriff’s search and rescue team continue to search. Anyone who has seen Pena or has any information is asked to contact the sheriff’s dispatch service at (925) 646-2441. pic.twitter.com/wwsUgiYhAA
