Missing girl found thanks to Netflix series

You must have seen or heard the series “Unsolved Mysteries “which you can find on the platform streaming Netflix, this documentary series presents real cases of unexplained disappearances, murders, and paranormal encounters.

Thanks to the above chain, this was how they were able to trace the whereabouts of a girl who was identified asKaylaa anbehounWho was abducted by his mother in Illinois six years ago… and was found alive.

This was achieved thanks to the fact that the North Carolina store owner recognized the minor after watching the series available on Netflix.

How did Kayla Anbehoun go missing?

The events occurred on July 4, 2017, when Kayla, who had been living with her father since herparent’s’ separation, went to visit her mother as she had visitation rights with her daughter. But he did not have full custody of her.

The day after the minor had visited her mother, the father, who had full custody, went to pick her up at the mother’s home in Wheaton, Illinois, and It was learned that both had disappeared without a trace.

The father turned to authorities, who launched a search to locate Kayla Anbehoun and her mother, Heather Anbehoun; However, years passed andthe  Case “that cold”That is, there were no new clues to its location.

The girl’s story did not go unnoticed, and it appeared in an episode of the Netflix series, “Unsolved Mysteries”, which she titled “Kidnapped by their parents.”

It’s important to note that, last month, the NCMEC (National Center for Missing and Exploited Children) released a photo of what Kayla, now 15, may have looked like physically.

How was Kayla found six years after she disappeared?

The store owner (unidentified) in Asheville spotted Kayla at a shopping center and thanked her for a Netflix program and a picture of her looking like a minor at age 15.

After this, the man alerted the officers that he has now found the juvenile.Givenf this, the girl has been recovered and kept in preventive custody.

The girl’s mother, Heather, was arrested and charged with child theft, according to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children released a message shared by the girl’s father, in which he celebrated that his daughter had been found alive after six years.

“I’m glad Kayla is home safe. I want to thank the South Elgin Police Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and all the law enforcement agencies that helped with her case.”

“We ask for privacy as we get to know each other again and navigate this new beginning,” the father wrote.

Mother Heather Unbehoun is being held ona  $250,000 bond and additional charges could be attached.
