The Ministry of Transport, Mobility, and Urban Agenda (Mitma) formalized 6.69 million euros (including VAT) in the works to humanize and improve road safety at the N-400 crossing, between kilometers 53,950 and 56,025. I will go through the municipality of Noblejas, in the province of Toledo.
The purpose of the action is to adopt a section of this crossing, making it a road typical of an urban area and promoting pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Currently, the road has the characteristics of an interurban road, without clearly marked parking lots, with broken curbs and sidewalks, and no lighting in some areas and garden areas.
The complete crossing of the N-400 in the municipality of Toledo covers kilometer 53,193 to kilometer 57,640. This humanization and urbanization project will transform almost half of this route, which runs through the city of Noblejas, through the following actions:
- Implementation of parking areas and pedestrian areas with sidewalks, landscaped strips, and bicycle lanes
- Implementation of a hydrant network and an irrigation network
- Burial of overhead lines in existing networks.
- Replacement of affected services (telephone, electricity, and gas)
- Installation of public lighting.
- Implementation of telecommunications pipelines
The humanization of this section of the crossing means its subsequent transfer to the Noblejas City Council, which will be the new person responsible for its conservation and maintenance as the owner of the road, in accordance with Order TMA/1160/2021, which established the framework for concluding delivery agreements to municipalities on urban roads in the state network.
The intervention is included in the Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan (PRTR), within the Humanization of Journeys program, which plans to invest up to 105 million euros (excluding VAT) to promote a more sustainable, inclusive, and easily accessible urban environment. It aims to promote the configuration of cities aimed at restoring spaces for other forms of alternative vehicle mobility and guaranteeing the physical connection of people.
