The president of MCS Life Insurance Company and MCS Commodi, Roberto Pando, represents this series of Puerto Rico Health achievements, the commitment of the MCS Foundation and MCS in all aspects that include the health of the people.
“This initiative was born after Hurricane Fiona, when we decided to join forces with GFR Media and its Health Puerto Rico health and wellness plan to bring “Perfect Health” to all of Puerto Rico. The reality is that health goes beyond taking care of yourself when you’re sick. That’s what we hope to achieve it should be good and it helps them to live healthy”, expressed Pando.
Healthy Puerto Rico includes three major initiatives. The first is a one-day event where sponsors provide free health care, vaccinations, as well as entertainment with live music, dances, physical activity, massages, haircuts, manicures, educational talks and orientations of various services.
According to the project directly impacted 20 municipalities and many communities with food deliveries, the installation of cisterns and electric generators, as well as the demolition of houses and community centers.
While, in the third project, MCS Foundation and MCS visited various centers for the elderly to bring food, music and help to the elderly people.
“Thanks to the MCS Foundation, MCS, and GFR Media, we have delivered food to over 3,000 people across the island, with the help of the Puerto Rico Food Bank. We are not only working with immediate physical and material needs, but also with mental health,” the president emphasized.
Although the closed event was held in Canóvanas, the MCS Foundation will continue its work through MCS to continue impacting communities under Puerto Rico Health initiatives.
In addition, Pando highlighted the efforts of the employees of MCS and the MCS Foundation, who served as volunteers in all the activities of the Health of Puerto Rico, as well as the non-profit organizations and companies that helped, this mission was possible.
This was made possible by a combination of 70% of our volunteers, who are MCS employees, plus almost 30 non-profit community organizations such as: Remake and Banco de Alimentos, which have been crucial. We also have around 25 friendly companies such as: Burger King, Claro, Universal Insurance and Econo, which have also joined us in this support effort”, explained the executive.
One of the non-profit organizations that is present is the Sor Isolina Ferré Center and, through these events, it seeks to continue the positive impacts of various populations, especially the elderly, who are one of its main approaches.
“It is an honor for us to be able to continue the work that Isolina presented when she started in La Playita in Ponce, so we continue to do what is her legacy to our community community to have a better health, not only social and spiritual. but also physically and, above all, emotionally “, expressed -mbar Aponte, facilitator of the educational entity.
Similarly, Sandra Carrión, the founder and executive director of the organization 5 Sentidos, which deals with health diseases in children, stated that she is partnering with the Puerto Rico Saludable effort to help her reach a greater goal in raising awareness.
“In Puerto Rico we have the ability to participate in health, because our institution introduces a health problem that is sensitive to the process of children’s disturbance and, certainly, most of the caregivers of our children are our grandparents and they are the ones who look after the conditions of our grandchildren. That is why we are here.” Carrión said.
For this organization, when it is part of things like this, it reveals the ability to reach many people through its message.
“There are hundreds of people here and the more people know, the more help we will have and, most importantly, the more family members will be able to help the children. We need more and more people to feed us. We need these activities. We thank MCS who sponsored us and when they met, they wanted to take over the organization,” he added.
On the other hand, for the municipal administration of Canóvanas and its Mayor, Lorna I. Soto, the celebration “this project is in line with our mission and our new program: Healthy Canóvanas, which prevents the occurrence of health prevention, which is the key is to prevent disease types, reduce risk factors, stop progression and mitigate consequences. Today, this activity has reached this goal and we are almost 800 people affected. We hope that the event will be successful and repeated. I thank the authors for such an extraordinary activity.
