The development of electronic commerce and the digitalization of payment methods have produced a revolution in the commercial exchange of our country, which can be seen at the level of operations carried out through the Internet. In the third quarter, more than 2 million purchases were made, marking a new record in history.
According to data from the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP), in the third quarter of the year a little over 2 million purchases were made via the internet, the highest quarterly level recorded so far. This result is almost 40% higher than what was recorded in the same period last year, which shows a lot of progress in electronic operations.
In terms of value, the data also registered a historical record, moved G. 270 billion in the last three months. From the consultancy Mentu they mentioned that the data on purchases made through the Internet show a change in the consumption patterns of the population, with a significant increase.

In total, during the ninth month of the year, 764,698 online purchases were made for the amount of G. 91.2 billion, the level is higher by 75% and 60%, respectively compared to the same period of the previous year. Online operations have registered significant growth due to the facilities provided to businesses and financial entities.
Regarding the analysis by payment method, credit cards remain the dominant payment method and have the biggest difference, which highlights consumer confidence in this method and suggests the continued growth of e-commerce adoption in region.
The last quarter of the year is usually the time when people buy more because of the holiday season and Christmas festivities, a time where an increase in promotions and discounts is usually observed. Analysts point out that this may contribute to further increase the dynamics of online shopping.
