Around 25,000 people enjoyed the legacy of the Midwives of the Caribbean at the region’s premier gastronomic fair, which once again brought together 30 chefs, 60 restaurants, more than 50 companies, 27 dessert shops, and other exhibitors in the Barranquilla sector.
The traditional chefs from Barranquilla, Bolvar, and San Andrés stole the show during the different phases of the fair, where they shared their gastronomic knowledge and their best recipes for the preparation of Arepas e’ Huevo, Caribaolas, Sancocho de Guand, Hayacas, Buns, and “an entire culinary repertoire in which the essence of our kitchens beats,” emphasizes Patricia Maestre, director of Sabor Barranquilla.
In this way, Sabor Barranquilla 2023 exceeded all expectations because, according to the analysis carried out by Fenalco, sales increased by 16% compared to the previous year, reaching 2,900 million pesos this time.
In parallel with this fair, around 15 restaurants of the city also came together to pay tribute to the “Barranquilla Multisabor” by preparing different dishes and cocktails, combining the local ingredients of their kitchens, and bringing the culinary heritage of the region and the legacy of Colombian midwives to their tables.
“This expansion of Sabor Barranquilla was not only an opportunity to tantalize the palate but also to delve into the rich culinary heritage of the Colombian Caribbean, a platform for talented and passionate chefs to showcase their creativity and showcase the best of their hands,” said Ana Mara Vásquez, Diageo Colombia’s Marketing and Innovation Manager.
The concoctions most voted for by the public will be honored on August 31st in recognition of the cultural experience offered to guests in Barranquilla.
