Ninety dogs were rescued from a hoarding situation in Salt Creek Township, Indiana.
After a “week-long” animal cruelty investigation, more than 90 dogs have been confiscated from a home in Salt Creek Township, Indiana.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said that on July 15, they issued a search warrant at the residence of a man in his 50s and a woman in her 40s and discovered the dogs — mostly boxers, pit bulls and pit mixes.
The animals were removed with the help of the Franklin County Small Animal Control Officer, the Franklin County Humane Society, the Franklin County Health Department, the Indiana Board of Animal Health, the Ohio County Animal Shelter, the SPCA of Cincinnati, and others.
The sheriff’s department said in a statement that the dogs were taken to the Metamora Volunteer Fire Department “where veterinarians examined the animals and provided the necessary care.”
No charges have been filed against the owners and the Sheriff’s Department says, “Once the investigation is complete, the deputy will forward his findings to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to consider whether, if If any, formal charges will be filed against the couple.”
The SPCA of Cincinnati found a dog from the seizure, Jasper, who is currently up for adoption (as of press time). The Franklin County Indiana Humane Society says it ended up with eight dogs and the rest went to other rescues, including a fellow rescue in Atlanta.
