Mortal Kombat 1 is set to be one of the biggest releases of the next month, and maybe even the whole year. This new part of the NetherRealm Studios series arrives after a few months of promotion, in which each trailer looks better than the previous one and each new detail of the game makes the wait more difficult. One of the novelties of this title is the Kameo Fighters system: fighters that support the main character of the players in battle. Like the playable characters, these Kameo Fighters will be part of the game’s DLC plans in the future, and a promotional image suggests we can even expect guest characters as Kameo Fighters.
This information comes from the Brazilian marketing of the game. One of the images describes what the Kameo Fighters are and explains that in addition to combat support, they will also have their own Fatalities, something that has already been tested in the game’s betas. However, the new data states that these Kameo Fighters will have their own alternate costumes, such as Sonya in her Mortal Kombat 3 costume, and that Kameo Fighters will also be added as guest characters as part of the post-launch content. In the previously announced Kombat Pack DLC, Invincible’s Omni-Man, The Boys’ Homelander and John Cena’s DC character Peacemaker will be playable guest characters.

This novelty opens the doors for even more characters that may be difficult to implement as playable characters to still appear in the NetherRealm Studios game, either because the level of violence suffered by a playable character is too high for some guests is compared to a Kameo Fighter, or because its design would involve more complex gameplay than normal. A similar thing happens with the character Motaro, who had to change his design to reappear as a playable character after the Mortal Kombat trilogy, but keeps his original design as a cameo fighter in Mortal Kombat 1.
Mortal Kombat 1 will be available on September 19th for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch and PC.
