In the VII Cultural Life and Local Development Meeting – which ended this Saturday – the coordinator of the Mural Route in the province, Hermanas Mirabal, expressed his happiness with these twins, the performance of a mural and the sharing of experiences.
This twin will be beneficial for everyone because we will continue to grow the culture and we are trying to bring one of their music teachers to collaborate there, added the executive vice president of the Provincial Council of Culture and Fine Arts.
«There are many possibilities, we are very optimistic and we know that we will have great results, added the director of the Salcedo School of Fine Arts, in the aforementioned Dominican province.
As an artist it is an honor, an opportunity and a privilege to have a job here in Sancti SpÃritus, Cuba, he said.
He explained that the mural speaks of the unity of the two countries, the use of the respective flags, while a tie binds them with flowers from each country and “the root of our flower, which is endemic, will unite the two countries,” he noted.
“That is the theme, with the flight of butterflies which in turn is the name of the national flower of Cuba and our province of Hermanas Mirabal is also described by a flower, a species endemic to the Dominican Republic,” he said.
At the end of the conversation, the visual artist invited to this event, which began on the 19th and will end today at the Casa de la Guayabera, pointed out that the title of the mural is Brotherhood between nations.
The province of Hermanas Mirabal took its name in honor of the sisters Patria, Minerva and MarÃa Teresa Mirabal, killed on November 25, 1960 during the dictatorship of Rafael Leónidas Trujillo.
According to the data consulted, countless murals adorn the province of heroes, while the city of Sancti SpÃritus, the fourth of the first seven towns built by the Spanish in Cuba, is known as the City of Murals. The mural intervention of the Dominican visual artist and muralist has the support of local artists, while tonight the VII Cultural Life and Local Development Meeting will close its doors with a concert by the famous Cuban singer Waldo Mendoza. For three days, master lectures, exchange of experiences, an exhibition fair and good music gathered in the Casa de la Guayabera – in the one whose outer walls are the aforementioned murals – as well as entities of the state and new economic actors.
It is joined by the Territorial Development Directorate of the Provincial Government of Sancti SpÃritus, the Articulated Platform for Comprehensive Territorial Development (Padit), the Municipal Assembly of Popular Power and the Provincial Directorate of Culture.
