Navarro Deputy Proposes Initiative for ITAIP Appearances

In an effort to strengthen transparency and accountability at the state level, legislator Víctor Hugo Navarro Gutirrez presented an initiative to reform the Law of the Institute of Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data (ITAIP). ) from Baja California.

Navarro Gutirrez emphasized the importance of the role of the Legislative Branch in the balanced use of political power, ensuring that it must be implemented within the legal framework and with strict compliance with the standards of conduct and efficiency that must govern in public service.

The reports presented to the legislative bodies of agencies, institutions and autonomous organizations are intended to complement, clarify and answer questions about what is reported, in addition to being accountable to society in general. the.

The deputy emphasized that currently, democracy means accountability and, therefore, a constant and institutional dialogue must be established between officials and citizens to make government actions transparent.

The initiative proposes to change article 25 of the Law on Transparency and Access to Public Information to establish that the annual report will be presented in writing and, in addition, to include the obligation for the head of ITAIP to appear when requested by Congress in State.
