Netflix has announced that it is bringing its megahit series Squid Game to life with a new reality competition series.
That dystopian Korean drama series became the streaming giant’s “biggest TV show of all time” after its release last year.
Fans will now be able to apply for Squid Game: The Challenge, with 456 real players entering the game in search of a prize of $4.56 million (£3,736,054).
Netflix claims that the show will host the biggest cast and cash pot prize in reality TV history.
The 10-part competition will see contestants battle through a series of games inspired by the original show, along with a few new additions.
Strategies, alliances and character will be tested as each round’s contestants are eliminated.
However, the streamer has confirmed that the players will not face the fatal consequences of the drama series, and their worst fate will be to go home empty-handed.
Brandon Reig, Netflix’s Vice President of Unscripted and Documentary Series, said: “Squid Game devastated the world with director Hwang’s captivating story and iconic imagery.
“We are grateful for their support as we turn fictional worlds into reality in this massive competition and social experiment.
