Film and anime distributor Konichiwa has announced He Mexico will bring ‘The First Slam Dunk’, The new film in the legendary series will be shown in cinemas in Mexico and other Latin American countries in the summer, although the exact date of its premiere has not yet been revealed.
‘The First Slam Dunk’ hits theaters in Japan in December 2022, and is the first production in the franchise in 33 years. The best thing about the announcement of the upcoming theatrical release is that in its Spanish dubbing, ‘The First Slam Dunk’ will bring back the original voices from the ’90s series, The tape will also be shown in its original Japanese language. Konichiwa didn’t reveal many details such as the theaters in which it will be available or the exact release date, but ‘The First Slam Dunk’ will officially be released in the United States and Canada on July 7th, hence the release in Mexico and Latin America. The First Slam Dunk is produced by Toei Animation and marks the directorial debut of manga creator Takehiko Inoue. The film received the “Animation of the Year” award at the Japan Film Academy Awards. Its official synopsis reads:
