According to industry tracker Exhibitor Relations, the Spider-Man film grossed $120 million between Friday and Sunday in the United States and Canada, and $88 million worldwide.
Another release, “The Boogeyman”, finished third with $12.3 million. The 20th century mystery horror film is the latest in a long line of films adapted from Stephen King’s book.
Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” dropped from third to fourth this weekend with $10 million and a cumulative $780 million worldwide.
Universal’s “Fast & Furious X”, part of the “Fast and Furious” franchise, ranked fifth with $9.2 million.
