In a huge step into the dark ages, the newly adopted platform of the Texas Republican Party now officially announces that homosexuality is an “abnormal choice.”
The shocking platform, which was voted on by 5,100 delegates and alternately at a party convention in Houston on Saturday, also reaffirms opposition from Texas Republicans to “all efforts to confirm transgender identity” – and calls for a ban on any gender-promoting medical care, including hormone therapy. , for all under 21 years of age.
However, the platform supports distorted and dangerous conversion therapy – which it calls “reintegrative therapy” – to turn members of the LGBTQ community into heterosexuals and eliminate “unwanted same-sex attraction.”
The platform lists other positions that explicitly oppose the LGBTQ community in the “Homosexuality and Gender” section. It opposes offering any special protection to members of the LGBTQ community and waives penalties for those who discriminate against the community.
Delegates to the convention were overwhelmed by leaflets attacking the LGBTQ community, including a warning: “Beware of the homosexual agenda.”
In lukewarm condemnation, Chris Halbohn of the Houston Republican cabin, who represents LGBTQ party members, called the anti-LGBTK language an “unnecessarily free” addition to the party platform, according to KUT 90.5, a subsidiary of National Public Radio.
Republicans from a log cabin in Texas were denied a stand at the convention, which led the national organization Log Cabin to condemn the action as “narrow-minded” and “politically short-sighted”. The statement warned that the party must “expand the tent”Involve members of the LGBTQ community or face election losses.
Even Donald Trump Jr. said in an interview that there is no point in attacking fellow Republicans.
But one GOP chairman told the radio station that the Republican ideas from the log cabin were “honest, evil.” Their ideals will destroy our society, he added.
The LGBTQ community is the new laser focus of the right in increasingly hostile – and more violent – cultural wars. Earlier this month, Idaho police arrested 31 members of the Patriotic Front hatred group who were crammed into a U-Howl truck carrying riot gear as they moved to disrupt a pride event in downtown Ker d’Alen.
In other issues of the platform, party delegates voted in favor of banning the teaching of sex and sexuality in schools, while calling on Texas schools to teach “the dignity of the reborn man” and that life begins with fertilization.
Delegates also declared Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election illegitimate.
