New York man wins $5 million in Cash Royale scratch-off lottery

Raymond Yancey, a resident of Yonkers in Westchester County, New York, claimed a $5 million jackpot in the Cash Royale scratch-off game.

According to New York Lottery officials, the winning ticket was purchased at the “ShopRite” supermarket located at 29 Mamaroneck Ave. in the city. White Plains.

Instead of choosing a lump sum payment, Yancey decided to receive his prize in the form of 20 annual payments of $158,186 each after necessary constraints, as detailed in Everyday Voice.

Still, two $5 million Cash Royale jackpots remain, said the officials. The lucky winners aren’t the only ones who benefit; it seems Westchester school districts received nearly $155 million in Education Aid funds from the New York Lottery, up from more than $4.4 billion in total scratch-off sales generated during fiscal 2022-2023.

According to statistics, New York is the “luckiest” US state for the number of jackpot winners in the Powerball and Mega Millions lotteries in recent decades.

Within NYC, Staten Island’s “Honey Bee Convenience” (1774 Forest Ave) produced the most lottery winners in the city in 2023, based on sales numbers from state counts through early August.
