NFL Picks Week 7: The 49ers’ victory drought is over; The Browns beat the Broncos

Long story short, here are my NFL picks for Week 7:

49ers 26, Colts 20: Two years after celebrating a rain-laden victory at Washington’s slip-and-slide ground, the 49ers could repeat that Sunday night at Levi’s Stadium. So much for that statewide drought declaration! The 49ers’ victory drought is over. Line: 49ers -3 1/2

Brown 23, Broncos 17: Baker Mayfield is out for the Browns and Case Keenum, whose quarterback position is still better than the Broncos’ perpetual purgatory. Line: Brown-2

Bengals 27, Ravens 26: Who gives? Who gives? Who knew the Bengals were allowing the fifth lowest number of points in the NFL? Line: Ravens-6 1/2

Packers 27, Washington 24: A week after Aaron Rodgers’ “I’m Your Boss!” Message to Chicago fans, he’s back at the corporate office in Green Bay, where fans actually own the Packers franchise (and, therefore, Rodgers). Line: Washington +8 1/2

Falcons 31, Dolphins 21: Two years after “tank-for-tua,” Dolphins fans are now begging anyone to “trade-for-tua.” Line: Falcons-2 1/2

Patriots 25, Jets 16: It took five attempts for Mack Jones’ first home win. Line: Patriots-7

Panthers 21, Giants 20: Never bet against Sam Bradford at Meadowlands – unless he is playing for the home team. Line: Panthers-3

Chiefs 31, Titans 23: Letdown game for Tennessee after defeating Buffalo on a fourth-down sneak by Josh Allen at Music City Miracle-whip slip. Line: Chiefs-5 1/2

Rams 33, Lions 16: Challenged to “step more” by the winning Lions coach Dan Campbell, Jared Goff cannot regain his Hollywood magic. Goff fell 0–14 without Sean McVay as his coach. Line: Rams-15

Raiders 20, Eagles 13: Celine Dion’s Vegas residency is on hold, so the hottest shows on The Strip (or a block from it) include the Post-Gruden Raiders, who take a 5-2 record in goodbyes. Line: Raiders-3

Cardinals 33, Texan 16: The Houston Pipeline previously sent DeAndre Hopkins to supercharge the Cardinals’ offense, and now JJ Watt is stepping up the Arizona defense. Line: Cardinals -18 1/2

Books 33, Bear 23: Tom Brady is now 6–1 better than the Bears (.857 ownership), which is better than the Packers Rodgers (21-5, .808 ownership). Line: Books-12

Seahawks 24, Saint 21: It’s always nice to see Drew Brees vs Russell Wilson in prime time. Oh wait, Jameis Winston vs Geno Smith? Only the Manning brothers can save it. Line: Seahawks +4 1/2

Previous week: 9-5 straight up, 5-9 against spread

Season: 54-40 straight up, 41-52-1 against spread
