NFL Week 6 picks: Mike Shanahan ironically honored by Broncos at halftime against Raiders

In short, here are my picks for the NFL for Week 6, which marks the beginning of goodbye, including for the 49ers:

Buccaneers 28, Eagles 14: Tom Brady’s fingerprints – bad finger and all – are all over this win, which goes against the latest franchise to beat him in the Super Bowl four seasons ago. Line: Bucs -7

Jaguars 26, Dolphins 24: The Jaguars return to London when Trevor Lawrence’s first win overseas comes (no Urban Meyer pun). Line: Jaguars +3 1/2

Ravens 25, Chargers 24: When the Chargers looked like everyone’s choice in the Super Bowl, Baltimore won for the fifth straight. Line: Chargers +3

Panthers 21, Vikings 20: The last time Minnesota won away from home – apart from Detroit, where everyone is home away from home – was on November 16 last year (in Chicago). Line: Panthers +1

Packers 31, Bears 17: The Chicago defense allowed 34 points in their debut loss to the Rams, whose offense bears some resemblance to the Packers. Line: Packers -4 1/2

Bengals 29, Lviv 28: The Lions haven’t won … at home against the Bengals in 50 years. So, Lviv still haven’t won a single game this season. Line: Lions +3 1/2

Colts 33, Texans 26: Indy wins the battle 1-4 at AFC South and heads off next to Sunday night with the 49ers at Levi’s Stadium. Line: Texans +9 1/2

Rams 31, Giants 16: The injured Giants can’t keep up with the Rams’ attack, which averaged the NFL’s best 6.7 yards per game with four sacks in the league as a whole. Line: Rams -9 1/2

Chiefs 28, Washington 23: Patrick Mahomes leads the NFL with 16 touchdown assists. Washington’s ineffective defense has allowed four landing passes in three straight games. Line: Washington +7

Browns 23, Cardinals 21: Arizona is bidding farewell to the last undefeated NFL record, and is doing so without center Rodney Hudson and tight end Max Williams, who suffered in Sunday’s victory over the 49ers. Line: Cardinals +3

Broncos 27, Raiders 26: Following the resignation of John Gruden, the Raiders are in disarray and another of their former coaches, Mike Shanahan, will be honored at halftime for being on the Broncos’ Ring of Fame. Line: Raiders +3 1/2

Patriots 23, Cowboys 21: Mac Jones is smart enough not to add to Trevon Diggs’ six accurate interceptions. Line: Patriots +3 1/2

Steelers 23, Seahawks 17: This is Seattle’s first game since 2011 without Russell Wilson – something that has finally caught the attention of MVP voters. Line: Steelers -5

Accounts 27, Titans 24: Josh Allen improved to 3-0 in Monday Night Football, shooting 695 yards on eight touchdowns and no interceptions on the previous two. Line: Titans +5 1/2

Last week: 10-6 in a row, 6-9-1 versus spread

Season: 45-35 straight up, 36-43-1 against the spread
