“We are living a dream with our eyes open,” said the humanitarian worker, who recorded the audio a few days ago and preferred to remain anonymous. Throughout the recording, he reiterated that civilians were trapped without safe shelter. “We do not have basic human needs covered. Over a million Gazans have been displaced, including my family and me. We moved from the north to what they call the safe zone, south of the Gaza Valley, but nowhere is safe. Massacres were carried out here. “The whole family was wiped out.”
The MSF worker recalled that the hospitals where thousands of people tried to seek refuge received evacuation orders and were “unsafe” from the bombings. “The air strikes were also directed against buildings near hospitals,” he added.
“The whole neighborhood was destroyed. We didn’t even know what we were dealing with. We don’t know if we will go home. We don’t know what will happen. All I know is that we live in bad conditions and the world is watching,” he continued in the audio. “Nobody is doing anything to stop the killing. They say war is justified, but all I see are civilians being attacked and killed. I hope we get out safe and sound. Keep us in your prayers and thoughts.”
