“I am not participating in the defense of privileges but I respect the right that they show,” he declared this Monday during his press conference in the morning of National Palace.
“Fortunately many did not participate in the demonstration, the workers believed us that they would not be affected in any way, that it was the leadership, those at the top,” he added.
The president confirmed that the protesters expressed themselves “with complete freedom” and reiterated that they had the right to do so.
However, he stated that the purpose of the move was to protect the “privileges” of ministers and senior officials of the Judiciary. Similarly, he attacked the ministers who attended the marches, whom he accused of being highly paid.
“How can I agree to these demonstrations?” he asked.
The president stated that fences were placed in front of the National Palace as a precaution, to avoid provocations.
“We have to protect the Palace from a provocation,” he said.
Likewise, he reiterated that the resources of the 13 trusts that are intended to be extinguished will be used for social programs, and he again suggested that they be marked.
