The twin ports are the two busiest ports in the country.

The October numbers come amid what has been witnessed by a global supply chain crisis. An unprecedented number of ships piled up outside the twin ports.

On Thursday, for example, 100 ships were at anchor or drift, said Jean Cerocca, executive director of the Port of Los Angeles. Seventy-five of them were container ships.

Another 24 container ships will arrive in the next three days, he said, with nine headed for the Port of LA and the rest for Long Beach.

Eighteen container ships were operating at berths on Thursday, Serocca said, about 80% more than the average number typically delivered.
