The Ontario Chaffey Community Show Band will present “The Green Green Grass of Home”, a concert of folk and country music favorites, at 7:30 pm on Monday, January 24 at the Gardiner Spring Auditorium on the Chaffey High School campus, 1245 N Euclid Avenue, Ontario.
Admission is free, face masks are required. You can park in the parking lots on Fourth and Fifth Streets.
The concert will feature vocal soloists Sandra McDaniel and Isaac Gonzalez, members of the band, as well as guest soloist Victor Garnika.
McDaniel will perform two songs made famous by Linda Ronstadt; “Silver Thread and Golden Needles” and “Blue Swamp”. Gonzalez will perform Johnny Cash’s hit “I Walk the Line”, Brook Benton’s “A Rainy Night in Georgia”, the concert’s title track “The Green Green Grass of Home” and Tennessee Ernie Ford’s hit “Sixteen Tons”.
Garnika will perform Jimmy Webb’s Glen Campbell’s “By the Time I Get To Phoenix” and Al Green’s “For the Good Times”. He will also team up with Gonzalez in Ronnie Milsap’s Lost In the Fifties Tonight.
The Show Band will play instrumentals including “The Texas Trilogy”, a medley of three Texas folk tunes; “American Folk Rhapsody No.” Claire Grundman; and the Roy Rogers-Dale Evans theme song “Happy Trails”.
Narrators for the concert will be Chris Hollister, Assistant District Superintendent of Chaffee United Union High School, and teacher Lara Porter.
The concert will also be broadcast on Ontario Cable Channel 3. Check the date and time on the cable lists.
