A leading tech leak website, Digital Chat Station, has revealed that Oppo’s Reno 8 series will use a combination of Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 and multiple Dimension chips.
The leakster also revealed that one of the phones in the upcoming series codenamed PGAM10 will feature a 6.55” OLED display that will support 120Hz, 50MP main camera, and an 8MP ultra-wide unit with 2MP resolution. Modulus. Talking about the front camera, the phone will have a 32MP selfie camera. The phone will have an in-display fingerprint reader and will be backed by a 4500mAh battery, which will support 80W fast charging.
The PGAM10 will be powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM module and 128GB UFS 3.1 storage.
The Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC is rumored to have four Cortex A710s clocked at 2.36GHz and four A510 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It will use the last generation Adreno 662’s GPU.
There is no clear indication as to the MediaTek chipset that will be showcased in the Reno 8 model. What is confirmed is that they will be using the new Dimensity 8000 and Dimensity 8100 SoCs.
The new Dimension chipset uses the old A78 and A55 cores and a new Mali-G610 graphics unit. Another option that the Reno 8 series could use for its flagship model is the Dimensity 9000, which uses a combo of X2, A710 and A510, and a higher-end Mali-G710.
Almost a year after the Reno 6 phone was officially released, Oppo is all set to launch the Reno 8 series next month. This makes them the first phone makers to go for subpremium processors. It will be interesting to see what the new processors will be based on – will they go for Samsung’s 4nm or TSMC’s 5nm.
As for the new Oppo Reno series, two phones, namely the Oppo Reno 8 and Reno 8 Pro, may launch in India sometime in June 2022.
