Ormeno Apertura is a new Chivas player for the tournament.

MEXICO CITY ( Associated Press) — After weeks of talks, striker Santiago Ormeno on Monday became Chivas’ new player for the 2022 Apertura tournament.

The 28-year-old moved to Guadalajara from Ormeno León, where he spent the last two tournaments of his career.

Chivas held talks with Grupo Pachuca over the player’s arrival and the sale of midfielder Eduardo López, who was owned by Rebano Sagrado and who will now play with Tuzos after passing through MLS.

Guadalajara did not disclose further details about the transfer.

“It’s a huge responsibility, I see it as an opportunity, I was already here, I had a bad taste in my mouth because I couldn’t live and I see it as a revenge,” Ormeno said. “I have come to give my best and I think as a striker you ask for goals and I am going to break my heart for that to happen”.

Following an injury to José Juan Macias shortly before Apertura’s debut, Chivas was left with the pressing need to sign a field benchmark, but his room for maneuver in the transfer market has dwindled as he is the only one. There are teams that play only with Mexican players.

In the first three matches of the tournament, Chivas could only score one goal and is currently tied with Tijuana with the worst offense in the tournament.

Ormeno does not appear to be a high-impact solution as he had very little filming with León, where he barely scored a goal in 28 games in all competitions, but Chivas bet that he would retake the level shown in Puebla. will be able to start. , where he scored 17 goals in 36 matches in the countryside.

“I come very well, thinking about my best moment as a footballer that could happen in Puebla, I have Chivas in mind, so I can give a better version,” Ormeno said. . “I promise you I won’t let you down.”

When his arrival in Chivas was confirmed, many fans expressed their displeasure on social networks, because although he was born in Mexico, he also has Peruvian nationality and played qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup with that team. was.

“I understand his reasons for playing for Peru, but I hope that at least when he plays for Chivas he tells him not to call. I don’t think that tradition has been lost.” ‘It’s Mexican, but what a sad directive we have that couldn’t bring a better alternative and avoid this controversy,’ said Laurena García, a Guadalajara fan, on her Twitter account.

One of the two most popular teams in Mexico, Guadalajara, Clausura have not managed to become league champions since 2017 and have only been able to reach the league for the title on a few occasions since then.
