The Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday called for the recall of more than two million Kosori brand air fryers after receiving more than 200 complaints of fires and burns, among other incidents. They also urged to stop using these devices immediately after verifying that a connection cable could overheat with a high risk of fire.
Ten complaints are for minor burns and another 23 for minor material damage. Kosori said it was “committed to the security” of its users. “We sincerely apologise,” he said.
Cosori has sold more than two million of these devices between June 2018 and December 2022 at stores like Best Buy, Target, Home Depot or Amazon. It sold 250,000 air fryers in Canada and another 25,000 in Mexico.
Their different models of fryers cost between $70 and $130.
“After extensive investigation, we determined that in extremely rare circumstances, connectors […] Inside Retired Air Fryers […] Can overheat, cause a fire and burn hazard,” the company explained.
