The agents of the National Police in Palma arrested two men of Spanish origin, aged 36 and 44, as accused of committing a crime of murder for the death of a tourist on the Llevant Ma-19 highway that happened a year ago. The third man, a worker who was assigned to the van where the incident happened, has been arrested, although he was released when it was found that he did not participate in the crime.
The events took place on October 8, 2022, around 10:30 p.m., when the death occurred in strange circumstances of a young tourist of German origin on the Ma-19 highway towards Palma. A driver who was riding in his car hit a tourist on the highway when he did not notice his presence because he was lying in the middle of the road. At first, several hypotheses were considered as the reason for the presence of the victim on the highway.
The Homicide team of the National Police was in charge of the investigations because of the initial assumption that the young man crossed the highway voluntarily, but soon there were suspicions of the involvement of third parties. that third parties were involved in the death of the young man and were said to have taken him to the highway where he was run over while lying on the road.
Another driver who was traveling in the area saw how the deceased was thrown from inside a van and could not provide any information regarding the license plate, but he was able to give a description of it.
Since then, many efforts have been made to clarify the facts; The victim was in the Playa de Palma area having a party with a friend and on his way back to his hotel he boarded a van known only as white.
The investigators had to track about 100,000 vans, the license plates of all of which were checked with more than ten million license plates of vehicles circulating in Mallorca. Police narrowed down the list and found a van linked to the events. It has been labeled with the corporate image of the company to which it belongs and the person who used it during the days of the incident is no longer an employee of the company.
Gradually, the agents collect data to determine the level of participation of the driver and identify third parties who may be involved, the motive of the crime, and all the details about the criminal action.
On Monday, agents arrested the worker and one of those involved in the province of Malaga. The next day, Tuesday, they arrested the third person linked to Palma. All of them are said to be guilty of a crime of murder. The agents learned that the worker was not involved in the activities and the van that was assigned to him was used by the other two involved who found the victim in the Palma beach area.
The investigators stopped the van where the victim boarded who was under the influence of alcohol. Once inside, the two involved allegedly tried to rob the tourist until one of them threw the victim’s body through the sliding door of the van that was traveling on the highway. The body fell on the road and was hit by another car which caused his death instantly.
When the investigation was completed, the worker who was detained in the van was released. The other two alleged perpetrators were charged with justice in Malaga and Palma, with temporary detention ordered by judicial authorities for both.
