Encouraged by a third place in the polls, Patricia Bullrich jumped on the illegal dollar run to try to take center stage. He maintained that he stopped his campaign because of the price increase, but in fact the campaign continued in the form of a press conference where he accused Sergio Massa and Javier Milei of being responsible for what happened. “We are a responsible force. We will not set any fire,” said Bullrich, who was accompanied by Carlos Melconian and José Luis Espert.
The entire tone of the conference seeks to show that they are a space prepared to manage and that they seek to reassure the population in the face of Milei’s increasing departures. In fact, before the conference, Bullrich literally tweeted: “I want to give you peace of mind.”
At the conference, Bullrich began by blaming the currency issue on the rise of the illegal dollar: “Massa said that the worst is over. However, every day we see that fuel is wasted by printing banknotes , which creates a situation that destroys wages. and the income of Argentines. Fill the road with pesos and then pesos are worthless,” said Bullrich, with the precision that characterizes him every time he speaks part of the economy. Later, he attacked President Alberto Fernández and Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner, because he said that Massa is “the only person in this government.”
He stated that due to the seriousness of the situation he suspended his campaign, but it is clear that the campaign is continuing in the conference. “We are facing a candidate who, instead of contributing, scares the savers,” Bullrich said of Milei, although he made it clear all the time that the responsibility for what is happening rests with Massa.
“Massa speculates that it happened after October 22. If the economy turns into a snowball, nothing can stop it,” Bullrich said.
They listened to him carefully Hernan Lacunza y Luciano Laspina, who at the time received accusations from Milei for doing something very similar to what Bullrich asked. “In front of those who are deepening the crisis as Minister of Economy, and in front of those who fear the Argentines, we are ready to take the reins of the country wherever they leave it,” said the former Alliance Minister of Labor.
He always wanted to state that his plot was responsible for the three: “We don’t want more fires,” he repeated. “Milei wanted to light the fire,” he said. “The only thing Massa has done is exacerbate the crisis: if he wants to put those responsible in prison, he has to put himself in prison,” he said.
“In the face of the irresponsibility of Massa, whose only goal is to win votes, a movement has been created so fast that we are on the edge of the cliff. As a political force, we don’t want to fall off the cliff and that’s why we cut the campaign short and here we are. We also warn people that on the other hand there is Milei who calls for dollarization because he wants to realize his idea even if 46 million Argentines lose their wages.
Melconian in silence
Melconian listened in silence, who was not given a chance to speak. Then the economist chosen by Bullrich revealed that even the journalists’ questions were agreed only for the presidential candidate: “I brought things prepared, but here they told me that only Patricia would speak and that something would happen. three questions from journalists addressed to him,” he stated.
Bullrich was also accompanied by Néstor Grindetti, Cristian Ritondo, María Eugenia Vidal, Juan Pablo Arenaza and a representative of radicalism: Martín Tetaz. “The peso is worth nothing,” commented Tetaz after the conference, although he did not want to risk giving recommendations on fixed deadlines.
All the rest of Together for Change continued the same line of attack. For example, Espert once wrote: “Dollar without dollars and recommend a bank run, show the unspeakable desire to destroy everything, burn everything to start again. And the people? Well, thank you. tell LLA”.
And María Eugenia Vidal, who also attended the conference, wrote: “Massa filled the street with chickens and Milei came out to shout that they are worthless. One lit the fire and the other poured gasoline on it. Argentines ” We will pay for their irresponsibility with more inflation, more poverty and more insecurity.”
