Patricio Carrillo’s replacement sat in the Assembly

Patricio Carrillo asked for a precautionary measure to sit as an assembly member in the inaugural session. However, there is no resolution until the session is installed.

The assemblyman, Patricio Carrillo (Construye), was unable to resolve his situation before the installation of the inaugural session of the Assembly. Therefore, his replacement, Nataly Morillo, became the principal and will occupy his seat in this first meeting of the Plenary.

However, Morillo did not perform in the opening session. To manage the session, together with Pierina Correa, he was appointed Adriana García, the second-most voting member of the assembly of the Construye movement.

Carrillo’s legal mess

Carrillo raised a BEWARE to sit as a member of the assembly in this session. The member of the assembly is the only one who has not yet delivered his documentation because he was prevented from holding public office by the Ministry of Labor because he was censored after a political trial in the Assembly.

The request for a precautionary measure is in the hands of a penal tribunal from Quito canton. Once the request is resolved, the Assembly will analyze the case.

In this case, several briefs were presented. On November 17, the Conaie testified that he presented an amicus curiae to request that Carrillo’s possession be disallowed.

The indigenous movement demanded that Carrillo seek to sit as a legislator anyway, which was criticized, dismissed, and legally disqualified to hold public office.

Morillo is a communicator and has worked for Unasur, the Ministry of the Interior, and the National Telecommunications Corporation. the head of the interior office when Carrillo was in charge of that portfolio.
