The Judiciary has declared “inadmissible” a new request by former President Pedro Castillo in which he seeks to freely face the criminal process followed against him as a result of the failed coup that he carried out on December 7, 2022.

The legal defense of the former president requested the cancellation of the judicial detention issued against his patron after the failed coup because it was a case of flagrante delicto, as well as the mandate of preventive detention for 18 months after being imposed. to him in this case: the criminal process and the confirmation of the two steps of the Supreme Court.

This request states that there were irregularities during the police arrest, preliminary judicial detention, and preventive detention ordered against Pedro Castillo since they were killed without being informed by a presidential vacancy motion presented against them and because they were prevented from using their defense by the Congress of the Republic, violating the immunity from process and arrest corresponding to them.

However, Supreme Judge Juan Carlos Checkley specified in his resolution that he has access to RPP, which are the same arguments that have already been rejected in the final judicial resolutions issued by the Permanent Criminal Chamber of the Supreme Court, which are fully resolved and act as the final judicial instance, so this request for annulment raised must be declared inadmissible. any previous hearing held, because the incidents have ended.

The Public Ministry requested a 34-year prison sentence against the former president Pedro Castillo following the failed coup d’état, during which he served 18 months of preventive detention at the Barbadillo Prison located in the Lima district of Ate.
