Representatives in Phoenix, Arizona are investigating an incident in which an Uber customer attacked his driver before leaving the scene – a dramatic incident caught on surveillance video.
Fox 10 of Phoenix reported that the Uber driver, Jonathan Carroll, picked up the customer in the LaVen area at around 2 a.m.
According to the report, the unidentified suspect broke into Carol’s vehicle and got into an argument with Carol over the pickup location. The two men quarreled and Carol refused to provide the man with a ride.
A dashcam then caught the suspect in the back seat of the vehicle, reaching forward and hitting Carroll several times before he could collect his belongings and exit the car.
It was the first time Carroll has experienced this type of problematic customer service in the eight years he has been a ride-share driver, he told the outlet.
“Most of the time, I don’t have a problem with people. I never felt like my life was in danger,” said Carroll. “I was pretty calm during the whole thing. I didn’t yell or say obscene things or anything. Started throwing punches or anything like that from afar, and it just escalated, and he started sucking at me.
