Tesla CEO Elon Musk sold his Hillsboro mansion for $ 31.99 million, Realtor.com reports.
Musk, who also founded aerospace company SpaceX, originally put the house up for sale in June for $ 37.5 million, but cut the price last month by announcing that the electric car maker would move its headquarters from Palo Alto to Austin, Texas.
The seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom home is set on a vast 47 acres of land with panoramic views of San Francisco Bay. Built in 1912, this 16,000-square-foot hotel features restored windows and doors from the era when it was built, and a host of high-tech amenities. These include the disappearing hydraulic elevator wall that connects the dining and music room, an internal sound system, and fiber optic cable under the garage. The house also has a separate three-room apartment, pool and gazebo, and hiking trails.
According to public records, Musk bought the house in 2017 for $ 23.4 million. Mary and Brent Gullixon of Compass were listing agents.
Musk said that while Tesla’s headquarters is moving, the company will continue to expand its operations in California. He said the company plans to increase production at its Fremont facilities by 50 percent and the company announced a new lease for a large office space in Palo Alto.
