Since the start of selling legal recreational marijuana in 2014, Coloradans have had plenty of places to buy weed—but not a ton of places to actually consume it.
For many years, consumption venues such as the Tetra Lounge and Coffee Joint in Denver invited tokens to come and bring their own ingredients for use, but locals’ options were only so limited – until recently.
JAD’s Mile High Smoke opened in late April as the state’s first recreational sales and hospitality business, a formal title meaning a lounge where consumers can buy, eat, or drink both weed and smoke . That means you can literally stomach up to a bar and be served with a non-alcoholic, THC-infused beer and a gram of marijuana rolling paper.

According to owner Josh Davis, this isn’t so much a novel concept as it is a step toward actually eliminating cannabis use. He believes that once the JAD proves that the model can work, there will be “thousands” in the state and country. (California already has several.)
“I’ve worked with people hiding in the closet about smoking weed,” Davis previously told The Denver Post. “I’m trying to change the game, I’m trying to show the world what the future of cannabis is like.”
JAD’s Mile High Smoke sells “the original, ‘I want to get high supply,’ Some are included. The lounge also offers pipes, dub rigs and paper for smokers.
There are limits as to when you go – by state law, consumers can buy two grams of flowers, half a gram of concentrate, or 20 milligrams of food (up to 10 milligrams at a time) during one visit.
