On Tuesday evening, Safe Alternatives to Harsh Environments (SAVE) held a public candlelight vigil in Fremont to honor victims of domestic violence.

Speakers at the event were SAVE survivors of domestic violence, new Fremont Police Chief Sean Washington, City Councilor Teresa Keng and others.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

“Awareness isn’t just October, it’s every month,” said Annie, SAVE Housing’s first survivor of domestic violence, who chose not to give her last name.
