Pleasant Valley Wins Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament in Red Bluff

Red Bluff – The Pleasant Valley boys’ and girls’ basketball teams won over Arcata and Enterprise respectively in the Red Bluff Kiwanis Holiday Classic tournament on Saturday.

The Vikings Boys won all three games of the round robin format by defeating U-Prep 72–27 Thursday, Red Bluff 75–38 Friday and Arcata 75–50 Saturday. The girls beat West Valley 71-51 and U-Prep 47-37 on Thursday afternoon to beat Arcata 52-42 to advance to Saturday’s championship.

The Red Bluff Boys fought hard against U-Prep in the final game of the tournament on Saturday night and pulled within 4 minutes of play with only over four minutes to go, but the Panthers pulled away and ended up with a 52–39 victory. organized for

The Spartans trailed 10 at the end of the first, but were drawn 23-19 within 4 in the half. The Panthers widened the margin to 12 in the third but Red Bluff returned 41–37 to play with 4:20. The Panthers closed out the win with an aggressive press that shortened the stretch.

Kyler Contreras led the Spartans with 18 points, including a pair of three-pointers; Francisco Sanchez had 8 points with three and Ty Guibergia had 5 points.

Braden Kemp led the Panthers with 12, Riley Hayes with 10, Khamron Price with 9 and Justin Berglund with 8.

The Spartans suffered a 49-21 loss to West Valley in Saturday morning’s consolation game.

Chrissy Stevens and Haley Christensen led Red Bluff with 5 points, Creedence Shaver had 4 points and Lynsey Forsberg had three-pointers.

Jordyn Wurzer led the Eagles with 14 points and 10 in the opening quarter, Madeline Bassett had 13, including 3 three-pointers, and Alexis Procher had 8.

After losing to Pleasant Valley and West Valley on Thursday and Friday, the Cardinals held on to a 53-39 seventh-place win against Anderson on Saturday morning.
