A strategy that articulates all the specialties of the service, to strengthen attention to this type of conduct and behavior that affects women, families, and gender.

The Metropolitan Police of Neiva, led by Colonel Juan Pablo Ruiz Rodríguez, the commander of the unit, launched the “Purple Patrol”.

The Metropolitan Police of Neiva is in a modernization process that contemplates greater proximity to the citizen, with the application of different approaches in action and from the perspective of the protection of rights in the framework of human security.

In this context, the “Purple Patrol” Strategy was created, to prevent and counter all forms of violence against women, families, and gender in the city of Neiva, in an articulated and co-responsible manner with the political-administrative authorities. and the community.

“Purple Patrol” in essence, is the result of the articulation of intelligence, police surveillance, criminal investigation capacity, and the prevention offer of the National Police, dealing with gender violence, in coordination with the national entities, departmental and municipal authorities.

Four lines of action compose this strategy; In the first place, there is education and prevention, which consists of providing information about the phenomenon, to sensitize and educate the whole community about any situation of risk of violence. Similarly, the orientation and dissemination of the national hotline 155, where information and advice on care pathways are provided; and the location of a Mobile CAI in Parque Santander for the reception and care of cases.

The second point is the deterrence of violence, based on the understanding of the phenomenon from a territorial perspective. This analysis will allow for targeting and prioritizing the efforts of the police and municipal authorities to combat cases of violence against women, families, and gender.

Another line of action is rapid reaction and response through a coordinated and articulated action with intervention teams from different specialties of the police service, which are activated once there is information about a risk scenario or when behavior has generated punishment that requires investigation. activities, to capture those responsible.

Finally, articulated in the “Plan Cazador” activities will be carried out aimed at the search for criminals and offenders for the conduct of sexual violence, making arrest warrants effective, and monitoring the protection measures issued by the police authorities.

In this understanding, the Purple Patrol will be formed with 151 women of the Neiva Metropolitan Police, in different specialties of the police service (police surveillance, intelligence, criminal investigation, childhood and adolescence, police officers, among others). In the same way, all the policemen in the metropolitan area of ​​Neiva are engaged in the strategy under the expression “We are all purple patrols.”

With “La Patrulla Púrpura” is also seeking an articulation with the offer of attention to the Office of the Mayor of Neiva, through teamwork with professionals appointed by the Secretariat for Women, Government, and Health.

In addition, the work will be done with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, family commissioners, government authorities responsible for deploying protection policies for women, families, and gender, agencies and non-profit organizations, interested countries, and the community in general.

Colonel Juan Pablo Ruiz Rodríguez, commander of the Metropolitan Police of Neiva, said: “We are all purple patrol. Any member of the community, or public or private organization, national or international, can be part of the Violet Patrol. The goal is to consolidate synergies that strengthen the educational, preventive, and crime control activities of the patrol in every neighborhood, public place, workplace, school, and university.
