SCHENECTADY – Three Schenectady police officers suffered cuts by cutting a chain link fence during a foot chase last Friday, officials said.
According to the charges filed in the court, the chase began over a vehicle that was reported stolen.
The man eventually arrested was identified as 24-year-old Sheldon L. of State Street. Like Roscoe. He was charged with four counts of criminal possession of stolen property, one felony related to a vehicle, as well as three counts of second-degree assault, felony related to the injuries of officers, records show.
The incident began just before 5 p.m. last Friday when officers attempted to stop a stolen 2006 Jaguar X-Type vehicle on Schenectady Street, according to allegations.
According to the allegations, the driver, identified as Roscoe, then fled on foot, a long leg chase by leading officers, where he was eventually taken into custody.
During the chase, the three officers jumped to maintain a chain link fence. According to the allegations, each suffered cuts to their hands, which required treatment by paramedics, while two required further treatment at Ellis Hospital.
Officials said Roscoe was prosecuted and later released on a $10,000 bond.
