(CNN) — According to a press release from the contest, the winning ticket for the massive $2.04 billion Powerball grand prize, approximately $997.6 million in cash, was sold in Altadena, Calif.
“There was a grand prize winning ticket at the California Lottery!” read the statement. “The estimated grand prize was $2.04 billion ($997.6 million in cash).”
The winning Powerball numbers for this Monday’s drawing were released just before 10 a.m. ET this Tuesday. The numbers were: 10, 33, 41, 47, 56, and the Powerball number was 10, according to an update on the Powerball website.
The award made one lucky Californian a billionaire, the biggest prize in history.
“The California Lottery Makes Its First Billionaire Ever!” state lottery said in a row, “A lucky ticket sold at Joe’s Service Center in Altadena matches all 6 numbers in the #Powerball drawing on November 7. The final jackpot amount for this drawing was $2.04 billion.”
The jackpot was already a record $1.9 billion, but rose to $2.04 billion ahead of Monday’s drawing, “making it the largest lottery jackpot in the world,” the Multi-State Lottery Association said in a statement. As its organizers intended when they changed the odds in 2015. ,
Tuesday’s winning numbers were announced after officials delayed Monday night’s drawing, when a participating lottery needed more time to process its sales and game data, the association added in a statement, Echoed by an earlier statement from the California Lotteries, which said a lottery needed additional time to complete the required safety protocols.
Neither statement identified which state had yet carried out the protocol, but California officials said the problem was not caused by their lottery.
The association said late Monday, all 48 participating lotteries must submit their sales and plays before a winning number can be selected.
