The secret meeting between Prince Harry and Prince Charles at Windsor Castle on Thursday morning lasted just 15 minutes and took place at the request of the Queen, a report said.
The brief rendezvous came after Harry and Meghan Markle along with other family members were on their way to meet the Queen ahead of Holy Thursday service at St George’s Chapel, the Daily Mail reports.
The report quoted a source as saying that Harry and Meghan were tripped over by the paparazzi upon arriving at the royal residence in a vehicle with tinted windows before 10 a.m.
The Daily Mail reported that after Harry said goodbye to his father, he and Meghan moved into the Queen’s private apartment, where the mood was quite calm.
Relations between The Duke of Sussex and his father have been on the fritz since Harry and Meghan’s high-profile split from the royal family two years ago.
Harry also beat up his father during an interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which he claimed Charles had cut him off financially.
Thursday’s last-minute visit to Windsor Castle was to account for the Queen’s recent health struggles after contracting COVID-19 earlier this year. She was not present in the service.
The couple reportedly arrived in London after an overnight flight from Los Angeles without their children – 2-year-old Archie and 10-month-old Lilibet. They were reportedly on their way to a sporting event in the Netherlands for injured veterans.
