Priscilla Presley reveals that she ‘knew’ what life would be like when she married Elvis Presley

Priscilla Presley revealed that she “knew” what she was going through when she married Elvis.

The 76-year-old actress says the early days of their marriage were ‘difficult’, but she understood what she was up to when she met the late King of Rock and Roll – who was one of the greatest heartbreakers of all time – when she was 14 as a schoolgirl in Germany, when she was 10 years younger than her.

Priscilla told reporters at the launch of the new exhibition ‘Elvis: Direct From Graceland’ at Bendigo Art Gallery that ‘the beginning [of the marriage] was very difficult, but I knew what I was for, because I saw it at a very young age. ‘

Truth: Priscilla Presley, 76, revealed she ‘knew’ what she’s up to when she married Elvis

The ‘Naked Gun’ star said rumors surrounding the ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love With You’ hit maker were a struggle for her, but her husband, from whom she divorced in 1973, was assured she did not ‘should not pay attention’.

Priscilla said: ‘It was then that I did not start reading papers anymore or [magazines] in the grocery stores.

“I found out how malicious people can be … there were rumors that I was pregnant, and that’s why he got married and I was going, ‘Oh my God, this is not going to be good for me.’

‘It was therefore difficult to be accepted. But he always said to me, “Do not pay attention … do not even listen and do not look at the tabloids.”

On their trips to the movies, she said, ‘We’ll be leaving [Graceland] just after the Johnny Carson monologue and we went to the theater, sometimes coming home at three, four or five in the morning ‘.

Priscilla also revealed Elvis was a bookworm and would read until the early hours of the morning.

She said: ‘We can come home at two o’clock in the morning or later, and he will go straight to the books and start reading.

‘And he would read [out loud to me] and I would be so tired … and he would say, ‘you are not listening to me’ and I would say [to myself]”okay, keep your eyes open.”
