Pruett scores his first Top Fuel win for Tony Stewart Racing

Morrison, Colo. ( Associated Press) — Leah Pruett raced to her first Top Fuel win for Tony Stewart Racing, overtaking Sean Langdon in the final of the NHRA Mile-High Nationals at Bandimere Speedway.

Pruett, married to Stewart, clocked 316.38 mph in the final for the 10th win of his career, clocking 3.884 seconds and second in Bandimere.

“It’s absolutely everything,” Pruett said. “We have the best fans in the entire country. This is my favorite track. I’m trying to be emotionless all day just to do my job, but it’s my entire crew that has been flawless all weekend. I told you guys a long time ago that this is coming and nothing could be more proud than doing this in a place like this. Thank you, Bandimere. ,

Added Stewart: “Of all the places we go on the circuit, Denver is what she circles on the calendar. Denver is the one she loves the most and the thing she talks about the most. For her To win his first race with this group and this organization here, it meant the world to him.”

Robert Hight won in Funny Car, Matt Hartford in Pro Stock and Matt Smith in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Height, the Funny Car points leader, reached his second straight win and fifth place of the season, topping the 311.92 Chevrolet Camaro with 4.065 in the Bob Taska III. Height has 58 victories in his career.

Hartford took his first win of the season and fifth in his career, topping Aaron Stanfield with 6.967 on 196.36.

Smith finished an impressive weekend with 7.097 at 190.22 over Buell to secure a second straight win in Denver. He also set a track speed record for his career 34th and second win this season.
