The former president of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont demanded that Spain apologize to the people of Catalonia for the “killing at the hands of the fascists” of the former president of the Republican Generalitat, LluÃs Companys, because it considers him a “formal victim of the State of Spain.”

“In fact, it was a murder at the hands of the fascists but it resonates because it is more than this: he was arrested, extradited, tortured, tried, convicted and executed by the authorities of the Spanish State in accordance with the current legality, ” said Puigdemont.
Consequently, the former Catalan president and leader of JxCat maintains that Companys is not the victim of an “uncontrolled commando”, but a “formal victim of the Spanish State.”
“And it is (the Spanish State) that must apologize to the people of Catalonia, because it killed him as president,” Puigdemont emphasized.
