The government is counting the hours until the European Commission approves 550 million to support the installation and fine-tuning of the 5G network in rural areas.
First president and head of Economy Nadia Calviño explained that
They hope to receive the power from Brussels “in the month of June to call for the activation of the Unique-5G Networks program, with an investment of up to 550 million European funds, so that 5G mobile connectivity reaches the very rural areas of the country as soon as possible.”
As stated by the Forbes portal, the program is designed to help the infrastructure of the forces that make it possible to provide the highest speed of mobile communications in areas where there is no mobile coverage with 4G technology at a minimum speed of 10 megabits. per second (Mbps).
With this, Calviño announced that in “the next few days” 18 university chairs will be launched within the framework of the Strategic Project for the Recovery and Economic Transformation of Microelectrics and Semiconductors, known as Perte Chip.
The intention of these chairs is to promote “talent and special ability” in the field of semiconductors in Spain, the Minister of Economic Affairs added, before reviewing the 80 million that have been allocated to public and private universities for this purpose.
“Soon”, he added, the call for the so-called “chip missions” will be launched to promote research centers on cutting-edge microelectronics and “alternative architecture”, which will have a first batch of 60 million.
