New Delhi: Union Bharatiya Kisan (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait on Saturday defended protesting farmers and ruled out taking violent action against police officers after reports of a fight with two police officers in the Singhu border have surfaced.
Tikait told ANI news agency: “They (the police) had to be in civilian clothes and the farmers must have confused them with the chain people (the media), who portray their agitation in a wrong way. are not involved in violence. “
Tikait alleged that the police and the government wanted to incite the farmers and that if the police visited the protest site frequently, contact should have been made with the protesters. They can file an FIR (First Information Report), but there must be something to write in it. “
Delhi police said on Saturday that two officers from the special branch were allegedly attacked by a group of farmers demonstrating at the Singhu border on June 10.
Following the recent increase in the number of demonstrators from Panipat, Delhi police officers from the special branch visited the Narela border to inquire about the realities on the ground at the time of the alleged incident. .
