BOSTON (AP) — Harold Ramirez added a tiebreaking, two-run double in the ninth inning, while Jose Siri made the final catch in the game that the Tampa Bay Rays won Saturday night. wins in a doubleheader.
Colombian Ramirez had five hits on the day and drove in four runs for the Rays (41-19), who led the majors but won for only the third time in seven games.
Hours earlier, Justin Turner hit a three-run double in a six-run sixth inning for Boston, who won 8–5.
The night game was tied 2–2 when Francisco Mejia and Yandy Diaz homered with back-to-back singles off Kenley Johnson (1–3) in the top of the ninth. Mejia and Díaz advanced on Brandon Lowe’s fly ball to right field and scored on Ramírez’s liner drive to right-center.

In Game 1, Alex Verdugo had three hits and two RBIs for the Red Sox, who swept the Rays in all four games of the first series at Tropicana Field in April.
Diaz hit a two-run double and Vander Franco had three hits for Tampa Bay (40-19), which lost for the fourth time in six games.

Down 4–1, the Red Sox rallied against Jalen Beaks (2–3). Pablo Reyes hit an RBI single before Turner’s double off the Green Monster made it 5–4.

In the opening game, for the Rays, Cubans Yandy Díaz went 5–2 with two RBI, Randy Arrozarena 5–1. Dominique Vander Franco drove in two runs for 5–3, Jose Siri scored for 4–0. Colombian Harold Ramirez went 3-2 with one run scored and two RBI. Panama’s Cristian Bethancourt scored a run to seal the 4–1 win.
For the Red Sox, Mexican Alex Verdugo produced two, 5–3. Dominican Rafael Devers scored a run to make it 4–0, Pablo Reyes had two runs and an RBI to make it 4–2. Puerto Rican Kike Hernandez scored a run to seal the 4–1 win.
In the second game, for the Rays, Cuba Díaz drove in a run and went 5–1 with an RBI. Colombian Ramirez was 5-3 with one run scored and two RBI. Mexican Randy Arozarena 4-1, Isaac Paredes 3-1. Dominican Siri with 3-1 RBI, Manuel Margot with 4-1 run scored, Mejia 4-2 with run scored.
