Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, Still Struggling With Illness, Now Suspicious Vs Bears

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is now suspected for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears. Team announced on Saturday, as he is battling an illness that sidelined him for two days’ practice.

Jackson, who was a full participant in practice on Friday after a two-day absence unrelated to the coronavirus, was not listed with an injury designation in Friday’s injury report. But he was added to the injury report on Saturday afternoon, as the team boarded its flight to Chicago.

Jackson said on Friday that he was feeling “much better” and “better than a few days ago” when he said he might have a cold. Asked if he would play on Sunday, Jackson said, “If the coach [John Harbaugh] Let me play, I’m playing. Yes.”

When Harbaugh was asked after Friday’s practice if he expected Jackson to play on Sunday, he said that Jackson “looked good,” but would not commit to Jackson’s availability.

Jackson last missed a game almost a year ago, when he tested positive for the coronavirus and was knocked out by the Ravens’ Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he remains unavailable on Sunday, backup Tyler Huntley will make the first start of his career. The Ravens may also promote practice squad quarterback Trace McSorley for added depth.
