Reds beat Brewers 10-5, ’22. I won 2 straight for the first time

Cincinnati ( Associated Press) — Colin Moran in his third straight at-bat, Brandon Drury and Kyle Farmer scored three each, and the Cincinnati Reds won two straight games, trailing the Milwaukee Brewers 10 for the first time this season. -5 Monday nights.

The Reds, baseball’s worst team, made a comeback in Milwaukee last week after trailing by a combined score of 34-12 in three games.

Moran took a 1-0 lead in the second innings off Brandon Woodruff (3-2). His first longball of the season was a Grand Slam in the sixth inning of Sunday’s 7-3 win over the Pirates, and he blasted two runs off his next bat. Moran has started the last seven matches with Joy Voto on the injured list related to COVID-19.

Luis Castillo, who missed all spring training and the first 28 games with a right shoulder strain, started his season for Cincinnati. He allowed a hit in the first three innings before Rowdy Tellez doubled for two runs in the fourth. Umar Narvez then took the lead in fifth place to take a 3-1 lead.

Castillo was later pulled into fifth and conceded three runs on three hits and five strikes. The Reds still haven’t had a good start this season.

Luis Cessa (1-0) escaped from fifth before conceding two runs in the sixth. Alexis Diaz, Jeff Hoffman and Joel Kuhnell combined for a 3 1/3 no-scoring relief.

TJ Friedl started the Reds’ rally in fifth with a run-scoring double. Drury took Woodruff to the center to give Cincinnati a 5-3 lead.

Woodruff conceded five runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Farmer snatched a 0-for-34 skid in the seventh with his first homer of the season, a three-run drive from Hobby Milner to make it 10-5.

Every Reds starter scored at least one hit and one run, the first time Cincinnati has done so since June 22, 2007, against Seattle.

The Brewers went 22–11 at Great American Ball Park over the past four seasons, the best of any NL Central club.

Reds: Rehab for LHP Mike Minor (left shoulder strain) is scheduled for Tuesday and Sunday at Triple-A Louisville. INF Mike Mustakas was placed on the injured list with an unspecified illness ahead of Monday’s game. The Reds have 14 players in IL.


Reds rookie right-hander Hunter Greene (1-4, 8.71 ERA) allowed the club to score five home runs last Thursday in Milwaukee. Freddy Peralta (1-1, 5.18) jumped five innings in the Brewers’ 18-4 win over the Reds last Wednesday.
