Paradise – Drivers commuting between Paradise and Chico will see some road work on the Skyway starting Monday, as well as those who use the Durham-Pentz Road from Highway 99 to Pentz Road.
The road work is expected to continue till September.
According to Butte County Public Works, construction crews will begin rebuilding the skyway from the Chico city limits on Potter Road to the Skyway city limits at the Skyway intersection to repair damage caused by the Camp Fire cleanup and recovery efforts in Paradise.
According to the county, construction work will take place Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., however, motorists can expect 24-hour traffic control measures, seven days a week.
The Public Works Department says the skyway will be limited to one lane in either direction or in both directions, with full-road closures to allow workers to move construction equipment and work.
During non-working hours, the contractor will oversee traffic control measures to ensure they remain in place and address any problems that arise.
Drivers can expect delays of up to 20 minutes due to slow-moving traffic and intermittent entire road closures. Motorists are encouraged to use alternative routes such as Neil Road, Clark Road (Highway 191), or Pentz Road.
While the county encourages the use of those alternative routes, the county will begin road maintenance on the Durham–Pentz Road from Highway 99 to Pentz Road.
That maintenance work will be operated Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Durham–Pentz Road will be limited to one lane with traffic control measures in place during operation. It is expected to end on May 20. Motorists can expect delays of up to 20 minutes during maintenance operations and are urged to exercise caution while passing through work areas.
